Did someone say baby shower?

Updated: Apr 23, 2020

When you’re getting ready to welcome the little one in to the world it can be one of the most exciting moments of a lifetime! The baby shower should be just as special as the occasion. Whether you’re the expectant mother or planning on behalf of someone else, remember it’s the small details that make a difference! Our tips are below for making sure everything runs smoothly. Want to find out more? Visit our website for more information for how we can help you plan your baby shower.

1. Determine your budget

Working out how much you want to spend is key, and will inform most of the other decisions you make. If budget allows, book a beautiful venue that will take care of most of the details for you (and more importantly, the clearing up afterwards!).

Alternatively, if you want to host something at home, a small marquee can be decorated beautifully and will be more casual, allowing you to invite more guests throughout the day.

2. Pick a theme

Whether you decide just to pick a simple colour scheme, or go all out with a complete theme, baby showers are a fun opportunity to unleash your creativity and add your own personality to the celebration. Not only is it fun to decorate your venue with flowers and balloons, it can be a great idea to incorporate your food and drink into the theme too.

3. Choose some baby shower games to play

Most baby showers include some games and it can be a fun way to help your guests get to know one another. We recommend choosing a variety of games (4-5 is plenty) that everyone can enjoy together.

4. Decide on baby shower favours

If there’s room in your budget, it’s a great idea to give your guests a little gift to say thank you for attending. It doesn’t need to be extravagant, but it’s nice if it fits into your theme. Ideas include small bag of sweets or chocolate, homemade cookies, a bath bomb, a polaroid picture from the event, or even a small plant in a cute pot. All of these are thoughtful gifts that don’t have to cost a fortune - and your guests will love them!

5. Delegate tasks

Make sure that you have people who are prepped and ready to help on the day. If you haven’t got staff to help you, it’s a good idea to have someone on hand that can serve or top up drinks, and ensure there’s plenty of food available at all times. We also recommend putting someone in charge of taking photos, and getting people to sign the guest book (if you have one!). You want to make sure someone captures all the lovely memories from the day, so you can look back on them in the future.
